Can You Stand an Egg on End During the Spring Equinox

Is it true that you can stand an egg on end during the Spring Equinox?

The answer is YES.

I  heard this legend several years ago and couldn’t wait to try it
out. Hurrying home from work on the 21st of March, I couldn’t wait to
stand an egg on end. (I was leading a rather boring life at the time.)
An idle mind is a terrible thing.

Rushing to the refrigerator , I only had a few minutes until the exact minute when the sun would pass over the equator on it’s way north.

Finding a perfect egg, I hurriedly placed it on my end table, after
several tries, and just as the spring equinox began the egg balanced
itself on its end, it worked. Amazed, I watched it for several minutes
before resuming my action filled life .

Some people think the egg can only stand on end because of some gravitational force from the sun
being aligned with the earth as the it passes over the equator. The
moon, however, exerts more influence and gravitational pull than the
sun. The moon dominates the ebb and flow of our ocean’s tides, and it’s
gravitational pull is different at the equinoxes. If any celestial body
would be able to exert enough influence to cause an egg to stand on end
it would be the moon.

Only years later would I be crushed when I found out the truth about the EGG. (no yoke intended.)

Who was the first person to do this and why?

This amazing legend originated with the Chinese. According to
Chinese legend  standing an egg on end can only occur when spring
begins. The only problem with this is that the Chinese calendar had
this transition occurring at various times each year. Being determined
in part by the Chinese lunar month which was normally in February,
their first day of spring didn’t occur during the actual equinox.

This myth pops up regular as rain every spring. I myself believed it
for many years. The truth is, with a large amount of patience, you can
stand an egg on end any day of the year.

The most dominant force of gravity is the one between the earth and
the egg itself, the sun or moon have no effect on the egg whatsoever.
To prove it to yourself , take a large uncooked egg from the
refrigerator and hold it resting the end on a counter top or table, let
the fluid content settle and gently find the balance point of the egg.
It takes some practice and a steady hand but it can be accomplished.
Once the egg is balanced and undisturbed, it is not uncommon for the
egg to remain in this position for days.

Try this at different times of the year, just to confirm to yourself that the moon or sun have no effect on the end result. There are many things in our life that the sun and moon affect, balancing eggs on end just isn’t one of them.

baby boomers

Each generation from the beginning of our country has contributed to what our country has become. By the same token, no one is perfect. Consequently, each generation has done and will continue to perform acts that it would have been better if some other course of action was taken.
The baby boomers have contributed much and have been blamed for the decline of America. What is the true story?

The Meaning of Thanksgiving

Sell Art Online

It seems the true story of Thanksgiving is a lot different than the story  most of us are taught in school. We are taught that the hapless Pilgrims arrived on Plymouth Rock quite by accident and by luck. Bringing with them syphilis and gonorrhea, environmental destruction, racism, and sexism,  they had no clue as to how they were going to survive.

No doubt the Indians were a big help that first cold, long winter, without their help the Pilgrims would have no doubt perished. The Pilgrims were taught how to grow food in this new land, how to hunt and fish and even make popcorn, thus providing a source of income for Orville Reddenbacher many generations down the road.

Clearing the way for the first Thanksgiving, the killing and cleaning and dressing of wild animals, such as turkeys was taught. Thus, the “first” Thanksgiving was prepared to give thanks for the bountiful harvest. That is the “true story taught to children in most schools, however, that is not all that happened.

William Bradford , the original Governor of the colony writes as to what actually happened.
This was hundreds of years ago, there were no turnpikes, Wal-Marts, large grocery stores, or other conveniences we have today, not even heat in their homes.
When the Pilgrims arrived, it was barren and cold, there was disease, pestilence, and many hardships. It was first decided to set up a form of socialism, everyone was given a plot of land and whatever was produced would go into a common granary. Based on fairness and great compassion you were to put in what you had and take out only what you needed. The fruits of everyone’s labor would be enjoyed by all. Marx and Obama would be proud!!

Great idea, however, human nature soon reared its ugly head. There were slackers amongst the Pilgrims, who would have thunk it!

It didn’t take them long to realize they didn’t have to do anything in order to get what they wanted from the common store. Other people were carrying the weight, and doing all the work.

It didn’t take long for Governor Bradford to realize that this wasn’t going to work. Resentment was quickly growing against the slackers. Not only were they not producing, they were taking more than they needed.
They felt entitled, after all, they were just going by the rules, there wasn’t any rule stating they had to do anything.

Among the problems  the people weren’t allowed to specialize, some weren’t good at farming, all they could do was clean up manure, others were able to manage and grow crops by using the manure to fertilize the land, some even had business skills whereby they could run a mercantile store or other business.

Bradford soon realized this wasn’t working, and changed his policy, he gave everyone a plot of land and told them to do with it what they wanted, specifying that they keep whatever they produced. It was decided that whatever surplus there was, they could sell. After that the Pilgrims began to prosper and thus began sharing their “wealth ” with
the Indians. In turn the Indians shared their knowledge with the Pilgrims, kind of a joint exchange of ideas that only capitalism, free markets, and free enterprise can supply.

The true lesson of Thanksgiving is, give thanks to God, thanks to God for showing the Pilgrims how to survive and prosper in this new barren,
unknown land, not by giving free handouts to others, but allowing each person to prosper by providing the opportunity to excel with whatever talents and abilities one  has.

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world, When looking back in history, I soon discovered this has always been a problem, Benjamin Franklin once said, ”Of all the senses, common sense seems to be the one that is used the least.” As obvious as it may seem, many seem to be totally oblivious to it. Most, if not all of the problems the world faces today could be solved if people would just sit back and think about what would seem to be the most obvious and simple solution to any issue. Often times people tend to overcomplicate the issues. I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice. It is now evident they were a lot smarter than we gave them credit for. Many times, in today’s world, the schools and universities can no longer be counted on to teach truth and values that will guide someone through life.

Generosity: Access to an Abundance Mentality

How does generosity impact our ability to fully
experience living life from an abundance
mentality?  Can knowing this allow us to fully
receive all the wealth possible for us?

Generosity is expressed many different ways and
each of those ways usually has something to do
with us giving something of ourselves –  whether
it is money, time, compassion, etc. – and
expecting nothing  in return. True generosity is
giving freely both to ourselves and to  others
and is one of the best ways to cultivate an
abundance mentality.

One way of looking at this is that generosity is
really a two way street. Being able to be
generous with yourself is just as important as
being  generous with those around you. If most
people are happy to give to  others yet reluctant
to receive, it creates an imbalance that can
block  the flow of abundance.

Many people are willing to give to others freely
but when offered the same thing, they deflect it.
For example, has someone ever paid you  a
compliment only to have you brush it off by
saying something like  “Oh, it was nothing”, or
“It was only because of my great team.” or  some
similar statement?

Ask yourself this question…how can I expect to
receive a million dollars in revenue from my
business or experience the love of my  life if I
am unable to even accept a compliment?

This brings to mind a client who had suffered a
very traumatic experience with her family a
number of years ago. As a result of her
experience, she cut herself off from everyone,
and felt totally alone.  Even people close to her
were afraid to help her or even acknowledge  what
had happened. She lived this way for seventeen
years – alone,  isolated, and suffering.

One week I gave her an assignment to go out and
ask someone to acknowledge her for anything she
wanted to be acknowledged for. A week later, she
had still not done the assignment, a clear sign
that  this was an area of resistance for her.  I
told her to repeat the  assignment, this time
asking three people to acknowledge her.  Her
reaction to this was sheer terror, but
understanding that what  we resist will persist,
she took the coaching and did the assignment.

The next time we talked, her whole world had
shifted.  She had done the assignment and asked
three people to acknowledge her. She  actually
saw that people had wanted to help her for the
last seventeen  years but didn’t know what she
needed because she never asked for  help. She had
been stuck in a limiting belief that ‘It’s not
polite to ask’  and that she should wait until
it’s offered. She realized that she had  never
been taught how to ask for what she wanted and
was blocking  herself from the abundance of help
and support that had been there all along.

Sometimes, all that is required for us to attain
that which we most desire is to get that extra
push and encouragement from a coach, someone who
is there on our behalf, looking out for our best
interests. Once my client  was able to break
through her resistance, she was able to ask for
what  she wanted – a truly generous act – and was
then able to be a part of  the flow of wealth and
abundance that is available to us all.

Democrats Admit: Saddam Harbored Terrorists

Just hours after Senator Clinton dropped out of the
race, and the news cycle was swamped with never-ending coverage of the
inevitable doing the inevitable something was released under the radar.

Back in 2004 the Senate Intelligence Committee began an
investigation into pre-war intelligence regarding Saddam’s regime, the
threat it posed, and how the intelligence was handled.  Democrats on
the committee did their best to politicize the investigation and give
it the appearance of a precursor to impeachment of President Bush under
some sort of Bush Lied conspiracy theory.  They did this for purely
political purposes despite being contrary to national interests.  Again
and again the committee came out with report after report.  Each report
showed that the problems with pre-war intelligence regarding Saddam’s
regime was not some grand conspiracy by a President who can barely read
a teleprompter, but rather the result of bad intelligence from agencies
that were as on the ball in 2002 and 2003 as they were on 9/11/2001;
they were out of touch, undermanned, ill-equipped, budget constrained,
and bureaucratically strangled.

In October of 2006, on the eve of the midterm elections, Senate
minority leader Harry Reid pulled a big political PR stunt and ordered
the doors of the Senate closed to discuss the classified elements of
the investigation.  Publicly, he claimed it wasn’t a stunt, but rather
that the Bush Administration was holding up the committee’s report to
avoid embarassment and to skew the upcoming elections.  In those
elections, Democrats took over the House, the Senate, and the
Committee, then…instead of releasing it, they sat on it for almost two
years.  Why?  Because they didn’t want the reality to make the news:
that it was Democrats who were deliberately misleading the American
people about the casus belli for the invasion of Iraq: the threat of an
Iraqi/Al Queda WMD attack on the United States.

Now, when everyone else was watching Hillary’s 1/2 hour speech again
and again and again, on 3 cable networks and every other news outlet,
the Democratic-controlled committee released the final report on
pre-war intelligence about Saddam’s regime.   In that report…they
finally admit that YES

Saddam’s regime was in fact harboring Al Queda groups and leaders, meeting with Al Queda groups and leaders, and more.
Thomas Joeclnyfires
the first shot at sinking the “no connections” lie that the Democratic
Party has deliberately created and perpetuated for their political
gains at national expense.  Naysayers will point to the source as
partisan, but the article cited gives plenty of quotes in proper
context for one to form an unbiased opinion, and to see with clarity
that the real misleading regarding the war in Iraq, hasn’t come from
the Bush Administration’s 6months of pre-war rhetoric, but from the
Democratic Party’s leaders and flag bearers over the past 66 months.

75% of Americans Dissapprove of the Democratic Congress

The only thing lower than President Bush’s job approval rating….is the approval rating of the Democrats’ Congress.

Why is that? Simple. They promised that if elected to power they’d:
-end the war in Iraq
-lower gasoline prices
-make the world love us
-end the partisanship in DC
and pretty much everything else shy of gumdrop trees, chocolate rivers, and cotton candy clouds.

Speaker Pelosi’s 1st speech as the Speaker of the House bears a re-read at this point

Ahhhh, the good ole days when people believed Democrats
