Many country and western stars, as well as others have filmed videos, photo shoots, and commercials.

It is also one of the four major vortexes in the area.

All the major vortexes have either a male or female energy, and  Cathedral Rock is female.

The vortex is actually along the east side of Oak Creek as you walk past Cathedral Rock.

Vortexes are powerful and transformational energy centers that are located at specific sites throughout Sedona, Arizona. Vortexes are the intersections of natural electromagnetic earth energy, also known as ley lines.

Twisted trees indicate the presence of vortex energy, you will noticed twisted Juniper trees on all the major vortexes.

Along with being a major energy source, it is also one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

Growing up on a dairy farm in southeastern Indiana, Gary traveled very little until midlife, when the opportunity became available to him.

Grabbing his camera and a bag full of equipment, he began his vision quest traveling to most areas of the United States and several countries abroad.

Along the way he collected several thousand photographs that he wants to share with everyone.

Sedona’s Rock Formations

The portals of Sedona

Written by Gary Wonning

Gazing out over the large expanse of landscape visible before your eyes, water level marks are visible at various levels of the red rocks. From this it is evident this land was at one time submerged beneath the sea.

What tremendous land changes could have created this land that  now rises forty-five hundred feet above sea level, and why is there white crystal beach sand present at this altitude?

It is for the imagination to determine what the landscape looked like before and after the waters subsided that created this beautiful landscape, and what did the changes do to create the mysterious events that regularly occur in this unique environment?

Gary has been a writer/photographer for over thirty years. Specializing in nature and landscape photography, while studying native cultures.

His travels have taken him to most of the United States, as well as Australia, Belize, Egypt and the Canary Islands.

He has studied the Mayan culture of Central America and the aborigines of

Australia. Photography has given him the opportunity to observe life in various parts of the world.

He has observed that many of the forgotten cultures had spiritual beliefs that were stronger than ours in modern times.

While we have advanced technically far superior to those that came before us, we have lagged behind in acquiring  spiritual knowledge.

For us to advance as the human race, we need to combine the spiritual knowledge of those that came before us, not only that of the ancients but the knowledge of our direct ancestors as well, with the technical knowledge we have today for us to propel into the twenty-first century and beyond.

He has published several books about his adventures.

Sedona Vortex Rock Formations

The formations in many areas resemble life forms of extinct animals, such as mastodons and various sea creatures. Often one can sense the presence of souls no longer occupying our earth, in both animal and human form. At times they seem to be communicating with spirit, trying to convey an important learning to those who would only listen.

Sedona Beginnings

Written by Gary Wonning

Sedona had rather humble beginnings, settled in the early 20th century, Sedona was named for Sedona Arabella Miller Schnebly.

Sedona was always known for her hospitality and industriousness, her mother ,Amanda Miller claimed to have made the name up because it sounded pretty.

Sedona’s parents were Phillip and Amanda Miller., she married Carl T. Schnebly on her 20th birthday in Gorin, Missouri.

They eventually were the parents of six children. In 1901, they moved to Oak Creek Canyon and after two years of hard labor, they opened the first store, the first hotel, which Sedona ran, the first truck farm and the post office, and so the town began.

Little did anyone know of the mysterious history of the town or the legends that wold surface.

The Mystical Sedona Vortex

photo of Bell Rock in Sedona ARizona

The portals of magical Sedona

by Gary Wonning

The four major vortexes in the area are Bell Rock, Airport Mesa, Boynton Canyon, and Cathedral or Castle Rock.

There are many vortexes on earth, but Indian legend states there are four major areas, two positive, Sedona and Kauai, Hawaii and two negative, The Bermuda Triangle, and Sussex County in England.

They are not positive and negative as in good or bad, but as in the poles of a battery. There are no good and bad energy or experiences, those characteristics are only perceived as good or bad by the human mind.

Written by Gary Wonning

The mysteries of Sedona are endless, and the stories never end,  it sees  everyone has an account of something mysterious that they saw or were a part of while in Sedona.

Roaming the streets and trails of the area, you feel as if you could have an encounter at any moment. There certainly is magic in the air.

There may be a logical explanation for them, but black Apache helicopters are constantly at the small airport on Airport Mesa.

The Apache helicopters are manufactured in nearby Mesa Arizona and could just be on a test run, but, military personnel always man them, so you often wonder what they are doing here, especially with all the paranormal activity that is associated with Sedona.
