Drug Abuse In The Military

I am often reminded of how bad the drug and the alcohol problem is in this country. There are news reports daily concerning overdoses and deaths and it seems the problem becomes worse every day.

I never realized how long the problem had been developing until I recently talked with a friend of mine who was stationed on an aircraft carrier in 1967 during the Vietnam conflict.

He was telling me that it seemed like everyone was smoking pot on the carrier and the ship actually smelled of pot.

If this is true, and I have every reason to believe it is, why didn’t the brass do something about it?

They were probably smoking also.

He was also telling me there were certain places on the ship that white sailors didn’t dare go, to do so would have been detrimental to their health and safety.

How did this happen and why isn’t it being reported, these issues are detrimental not only to the sailors on board but to our nation’s safety as well.

How are members of our military supposed to create a unit to fight for a common cause, when certain sailors can’t enter a part of the ship because of their race? I always thought this was discrimination.

In today’s world, we aren’t allowed to talk about such things because of political correctness and it may offend someone, what about the people who are being subjected to this kind of abuse and no one says anything, and if they do say something, they would be discredited and probably disciplined.

We have some serious problems in this country, how can we solve them if no one says anything because of political correctness?

If we can’t identify the problem and discuss it, the problem will only get worse and will never go away.

It will only create more racial discord and magnify to become an even greater issue.

Why do People take Drugs and Abuse Alcohol?

Written by Gary Wonning

Why do people take drugs and abuse alcohol?

In today’s world, it is becoming more and more acceptable to abuse drugs and alcohol. Why is this?

People have always to some extent consumed alcohol and drugs, there is even an argument that daily consumption of especially alcohol can have health benefits and lead to a healthier and longer life. There is even an argument that in certain cases use of illicit drugs can lead to a pain free life.

Many argue that drugs or no more harmful than alcohol and sometimes have less harmful effects on the human body than alcohol.

All of this is open to debate, and while the consumption of illegal drugs is becoming legal in many states and countries we have to begin asking ourselves why are people becoming more and more addicted to their use. It is one’s own personal choice as to whether he or she wants to ruin their life by the excessive consumption of drugs ,(illegal or legal),and or alcohol.

I don’t think the debate should be over whether or not one consumes drugs or alcohol one has to ask , “why are so many turning to these destructive behaviors?”

If we solved that dilemma, we wouldn’t need to worry about excessive drug or alcohol use, it wouldn’t be happening.

There are some religious orders who advocate not consuming alcohol at all , as one drink can lead to another and thus lead to alcoholism.  While this is certainly true, if one is of strong mind and body, and one has a strong spiritual foundation, then an occasional drink isn’t gong to lead to a life of alcohol abuse.

What has changed  in our society that has made people not able to face their problems and turn to drugs and alcohol to escape from reality?

Why can’t people face minor crises in their lives and be able to solve them without resorting to reality changing solutions?

The World Goes Around

There’s this drunk standing out on the street
corner, and a cop passes by, and says, “What do you think
you’re doing?”

The drunk says, “I heard the world goes
around every 24 hours, and I’m waiting on my house.
Won’t be long
now, there goes my neighbor.”

Drinking Beer: The Buffalo Theory

The “Buffalo Theory” of Drinking Beer..

A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.

This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know , kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers, and that’s why beer is so GOOD for you!
