Should Sea World be Closed?

Sell Art Online

Written by; Gary Wonning

The politically correct crowd has targeted another business for extinction.

This is just one of the many problems we face as I bring out in my book,”The Wisdom of our Ancestors.

Sea World has come under fire for the way it treats their whales and dolphins. The claim has been made the animals are treated unfairly and to keep them in captivity is cruel and unusual punishment.

To the contrary, no proof of mistreatment has been substantiated. From all indications, the animals are treated humanely,  well fed and protected from their natural predators. They are loved by not only their caretakers but by the general public as well.

Thousands of children come every year to enjoy their antics and to learn more about the world around them, something that is sorely needed in today’s society.

There has been no proof presented the animals suffer because of their captive environment. In fact the animals would benefit from the attention and care they get from their human counterparts. They receive none of that in the wilds of the deep blue sea where they constantly have to be on guard so they don’t get eaten.

Many say it is cruel to keep them penned up so they are unable to roam the seas freely, I’m not so sure.

The same goes for the animals in zoos and the circus. Most of the animals are well maintained and fed properly. The owners have too much money invested in them to do otherwise. There are probably a few instances where this isn’t true. Those cases should be handled on an individual basis, we need to stop punishing everyone for the actions of a few.

I would ask these same people if they have a pet such as a dog, or cat.

I would remind them that dogs and cats at one time roamed the outdoors freely and were not domesticated.

How about goldfish, or parakeets? They are also held in a captive environment.

Maybe we should turn these animal loose also to roam freely and be subject to the whims of their predators.

I see no difference in domesticating whales and dolphins than I do in domesticating dogs or cats.

In both cases, people and the animals themselves benefit. Humans get much joy from having domesticated animals near them, they have much therapeutic value.  The animals themselves benefit from being cared for, all their nutritional needs are met, they no longer have to defend themselves from other animals that would want to turn them into dinner, and their health needs are also well taken care of.

It’s time we stand up to these organizations that spread false information about well-meaning companies that provide an enjoyable, educational entertainment venue to us.

Keeping whales and dolphins in captivity is no different than having a pet dog or cat.

To think differently is ridiculous and narrow-minded.

It has been reported that the attendance at the Sea World parks is down by seventy-five percent, to lose Sea World and other such parks would be an injustice not only to the parks, but humanity as well. Let’s stop the madness.

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world, When looking back in history, I soon discovered this has always been a problem, Benjamin Franklin once said, ”Of all the senses, common sense seems to be the one that is used the least.” As obvious as it may seem, many seem to be totally oblivious to it. Most, if not all of the problems the world faces today could be solved if people would just sit back and think about what would seem to be the most obvious and simple solution to any issue. Often times people tend to overcomplicate the issues. I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice. It is now evident they were a lot smarter than we gave them credit for. Many times, in today’s world, the schools and universities can no longer be counted on to teach truth and values that will guide someone through life.

Greenpeace, Do Something Productive and Positive

Photography Prints

Recently Greenpeace protested the oil industry by having people hang from a bridge in Portland Oregan to prevent a Shell Oil Company ship from leaving port.

This ship was headed to the arctic to assist in drilling for new oil north of Alaska

The Icebreaker Fennica was carrying a capping stack which would aid in the process in case there was an oil spill.

This is the same Greenpeace that the founder of the organization has resigned because it has gotten too extreme and no longer relies on facts to support their actions.

Wouldn’t it be nice if people would participate in positive actions  and try to improve the situation and look for solutions that would help create a better world instead of trying to take humanity back to the seventeenth century with their outdated and barbaric actions?

News Flash: we are gong to be needing oil for as long as humanity exists on this planet. Alternative sources can and will be found, but fossil fuels will always be in demand. That is a cold hard fact.

Why do you think God gave us fossil fuels? He gave them to us to use. Exploration, production and the use of fossil fuels is becoming more efficient and environmentally safe as we learn new technologies to make them so.

We owe our present living standards to fossil fuels, if it weren’t for oil, we would still be living in the long gone dark ages, so to speak.

The fossil fuels will always have an important use in our world, to try and eliminate them would be not in our best interest, short-sighted and serve no one.

Even if Greenpeace stops the big bad villain America from using oil, they will never stop countries like Russia and China, countries who don’t have the technology and safeguards we do.

It would be far better to channel their energy to finding better more positive ways to harvest the oil. The oil was put there for us to use. We will never run out, new sources of oil are found every day as the technology improves, and the new technology has made it more environmentally friendly.

Ther will always be accidents and environmental mishaps. Just because something doesn’t go as it should, doesn’t mean we stop doing it, we just find a better way fo doing it. That is called progress.

It seems to me that is the better course to follow, sure beats crawling in a hole and transporting back to the middle ages and living in a cave.

Global Warming, Again?

I recently read an  interesting article  that because of the effects of
global warming and the melting of the Arctic glaciers, many artifacts
from ancient times were being found in such places as Norway, Austria,
Northern Italy and Alaska.

It went on to state a pre-Viking woolen tunic had been discovered near a
thawing glacier in  Norway. The clothing  would fit someone about 5’9”
tall and was found 6,560 feet above sea level on what may have been a
Roman-era trade route . According to the carbon dating done on the
subject, it would have been made about 300 AD.

Along with those items, a Viking mitten dating from 800 A.D., a walking
stick,Bronze age shoes, bows , arrow heads and other paraphernalia have
been found . A scientist proclaimed that because of the present day
global warming, many more artifacts would soon be discovered.

Of course climate change along with man’s willful destruction of the earth
are always to blame for the melting of the ice caps. I don’t think
anyone can dispute we do have climate change, but we have always had
climate change and so called global warming. If we didn’t have climate
change and  global warming, how did those clothing items get there in
the first place? The area at some period in time must have been much
warmer than it is today.

At some time in the past these frozen areas of the earth had to be warmer
than they are today for man to have been able to traverse the planet and
leave the artifacts.

They weren’t just put there by some small child building snow angels on the
new fallen snow. Also, judging by the time period, I don’t think there
was a whole lot of manufacturing going on at the time, or evil humans
polluting the environment. I assume there weren’t even gas guzzling
SUV’s on the scene either.

winter scene

I
believe  these evil, monstrous entities came  much later. Well then,
how did all this mysterious melting of the ice caps come about? Did some
ancient advanced civilization that has yet to be discovered, have SUVs
and thus pollute the whole world through their ignorance and lack of
regard for anyone else beside themselves?

No,none of these scenarios are correct, just as today, humans haven’t been
responsible for changes in the earth’s climate. There have always been
changes , and finding these relics from the past proves it. It is a
natural phenomena, the earth is always going through climate change, humans have nothing to do with it. To think so would
be absurd.

The academic world always seems to jump to conclusions and are very narrow
minded in their thinking. As much as they proclaim to be open minded,
history has proven otherwise. The scientific community is also very slow
in changing their thinking. As much as we would like to think they are
open to new ideas, they are very much stuck in the conventional wisdom
of the time and are normally not open to any new theories put forth by
those not in their circle of colleagues.

Someone
outside their social circles or anyone who presents a new theory that
contradicts what they believe to be true is often ostracized and
ridiculed in such a way, any credibility they may have is neutralized,
hence many new and more sensible  theories never see the light of day
and it can take many, many years for the truth to be known.

Global warming

There is much discussion today concerning global warming, is it real or just another one of the many crisis that the main stream media bestows upon us?

Al Gore's New Program

Al Gore

Al Gore was entertaining Joe Leiberman and decided to show off his
new home. Upon entering the bedroom, Joe noticed a very large wooden box
with 5 empty beer cans and about $1500.00 in cash.

Out of curiosity, Joe asked “AL, I see you’re a beer drinker, I am too!
you see, we DO have something in common”

With a condescending voice, Al quipped, ” yes, of course we do Joe”

Joe then asked ” Al, why the 5 empty cans and all that cash”

Al gladly told Joe about his new program” Joe, since last month, I
have decided to turn a new leaf and become a more accountable person,
while at the same time rewarding myself for my efforts. Whenever I tell a
lie, I drink a beer and put the can in this box”

“That’s really impressive”, Joe replied, “only 5 beer cans in a whole
month, but tell me, where did all that cash come from”?

Without missing a beat, Al responded, “Whenever the box gets full of
beer cans, I take it down to the recycling center, you know how
concerned I am about environmental issues”.

The wisdom of our ancestors

The wisdom of our ancestors

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world,
I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice more often.
It is in this light I have decided to publish some of my random thoughts based on the views of our ancestors.
