The Masonic Influence on World History

Written by Gary Wonning

I was quite surprised after moving to Florida to discover the Master Mason degree was always held on Saturday mornings at about nine AM.

The reasoning being that the degree work is rather long especially if there are more than one candidate and it got too late in the evening before lodge was closed.

I assume too many brethren were falling asleep.

It was about this time I began researching the practices of many of the earlier esoteric societies that I discovered something interesting.

It seems in ancient times, many of the present day rituals were performed in the early morning to coincide with the rising of the morning star, Venus and the sun.

The ancient believed that our perceptions were more distinct when we were receiving the influence of the morning star,  along with the moon and rising sun enabling the initiate to more easily comprehend  the esoteric meaning of the rituals.

I also discovered that brother George Washington, before he assumed his duties in the military and  creating a new country, plotted the rising of the moon, sun, and Venus at his Mount Vernon plantation for fifteen years prior, and made detailed notes.

When our nations capitol, Washington D.C. was plotted, he insisted the White House and the Capitol Building be precisely aligned to the rising of Venus in the early morning hours.

Thus the tradition of early morning rituals is preserved and remembered in our nation’s capitol.

The lodge brothers, by looking after the needs of others and providing the opportunity to not keep late hours, actually provided the opportunity to perform the ancients rituals at the proper times.

Gary has been a writer/photographer for over thirty years. Specializing in nature and landscape photography, while studying native cultures.

His travels have taken him to most of the United States, as well as Australia, Belize, Egypt and the Canary Islands.

He has studied the Mayan culture of Central America and the aborigines of

Australia. Photography has given him the opportunity to observe life in various parts of the world.

He has observed that many of the forgotten cultures had spiritual beliefs that were stronger than ours in modern times.

In technology, we have made advances far superior to those that came before us, but, we have lagged behind in gaining or maintaining our spiritual knowledge.

For us to advance as the human race, we need to combine the spiritual knowledge of those that came before us, not only that of the ancients but the knowledge of our direct ancestors as well, with the technical knowledge we have today for us to propel into the twenty-first century and beyond.

He has published several books about his adventures.
