Searching For Enlightenment

Written By; Gary Wonning

It was in 1987 and I had just returned from Egypt, theShirley Mclaine movie, “Out On A Limb” had just premiered on TV.

A friend of mine approached me about starting a metaphysical study group in town.

I was all for it, but I made the statement that I doubted that many would come, I knew everyone in town and even though I had discussed it with several people, no one really showed an interest.

My friend went ahead and started the group and much to my surprise, almost sixty people came to the first meeting and the meetings went on for years.

People were reluctant to discuss their beliefs with someone else. Even though most were catholic, which I thought would be a deterrent, once they were in a comfortable environment with like-minded people, they willingly discussed their feelings on various topics.

You never know how what you do will effect others until you do it.
