A FARM BOY’S Allowance
One day I was trying to get mom to buy me something the next time we went shopping. I made the mistake of asking her while standing next to a cow.
She asked me, “How much does it cost?”
I responded, “A nickel.”
She handed me a milk bucket and a stool and said, “You milk that cow and I will give you a nickel.”
Soon I had my nickel and my first economics lesson at the tender age of five. After that, my allowance always had conditions.
