Why are there so many angry young men and women?
It seems in today’s society, more so than in any period of time that I can remember, the young are angry. Every age has produced angry kids, but it seems there is an abundance of them in today’s world.
I believe there are many reasons for this. Apart from it being a normal phase most go through on their way to adulthood, today there may be many contributing factors to make the anger more severe and implanted in today’s youth.
Many have been pampered growing up. In our haste to create a better life for those that followed us, many parents didn’t want them to endure the same hardships as we did, so they did everything for their kids. I know of parents today who have adult children and are still supporting them and paying for things the kids should be buying themselves.
This overindulging has done nothing but make them dependent and irresponsible.
Besides, when one is given something, it is never appreciated like it would have been if worked for. Often times there is resentment on the part of the recipient and they often think they should have given more.
Many have never had to learn coping skills, parents, teachers, and others have provided for their every whim and sheltered them from life’s hard times. They get passing grades in school regardless of how hard they work, as a result, they think the world owes them a living.
Because of political correctness, no one has ever disagreed with them, so they don’t know how to take criticism.
Suddenly they grow up, enter the adult world and suddenly reality hits and they are criticized, they go to pieces and get angry because someone disagrees with them. Heaven forbid.
We are raising a generation of wussies, raise your kids in the ways of the world, let them experience defeat and hardship, don’t give them everything they want.
If they are going to survive in the real world, it ain’t going to change, they need to get used to it.
