We have come to a period of time in history when we as Americans can no longer fight for the freedom of others.
Through out history, America has always stood for freedom and independence, in the beginning we struggled and defeated the biggest military the world had ever known at that time , the British Empire, to gain our own independence.
The Civil War saw a great struggle to end slavery and the two world wars were fought to end oppression on a world level. In each struggle America, as well as Britain and other western powers fought oppression around the world resulting in millions of people enjoying freedom today.
We have come to a period in history where that must change. We must always remain vigilant and be a force for liberty, however, we simply can’t fight everyone’s battles. Freedom like respect, must be earned.
Freedom can’t just be given to someone, they must have a stake in it, otherwise they won’t treasure it and keep it sacred.
We have seen the result of what occurs when we enter a country and expose them to freedom when they are not ready for it, or understand what freedom is.
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are two prime examples. although our intentions may have been good, and we may have had a legitimate reason for both wars, they did not turn out well.
The two wars did provide us the opportunity to apprehend the villains responsible for many terror attacks not only on our soil, but around the globe as well.
Converting a people or nation to freedom didn’t work, they aren’t ready for that. They will learn that in their own time. In the meantime, our objective should be to keep ourselves safe from the evil deeds of others so we may enjoy the freedom we have earned, by maintaining a strong military and remaining close to our creator so we may preserve our own freedom and independence.
