Dominica is much more laid back, it’s chief attraction is the beautiful scenery. Located much farther south than the Dominican Republic, it’s environment is mainly untouched by human hands.
Nicknamed “The nature isle of the Caribbean”, the beauty is unspoiled and is a great location for hiking and diving.
Discovered by Columbus, it was named by Columbus because it was discovered on a Sunday. It was left unsettled for many years following his discovery.
It became the home of many native cultures after they were driven from surrounding islands by the settlement of Europeans.
The emancipation of African slaves occurred throughout the British Empire in 1834, and, in 1838, Dominica became the first British Caribbean
colony to have a legislature controlled by a black majority.
