Sydney Opera House
The perfect AUSSIE store
Besides the kangaroo, nothing symbolizes Australia more than the Opera House, it has quickly become one of the most recognizable structures in the world!
Even though it has a short history, only opening in 1973, it is as recognizable as the Pyramids of Giza and the Colosseum of Rome!
Situated on Bennelong Point, the skyline of the Sydney Harbor Bridge along with the blue water and the Opera House, viewed from the air or ferry presents a scene etched in one’s mind as one of the most beautiful anywhere.
When the Opera House was originally designed, because of problems concerning incorporating the sails into the design of the building, it was beyond the capabilities of engineering at the time, thus it took several years and much discussion, at one time the Australian government threatened to cancel the project because of cost over runs.
Today, whether you are visiting Australia to learn of it’s varied and colorful past by experiencing the adventures of the outback , or to take in the culture of the metropolitan areas, a must stop is the Opera House.
