Sydney is a wonderful city to spend a few days, with the “Rocks”, (the original settlement), Kings Cross, the Space Needle with it’s skyline restaurant and many other attractions, Sydney has much to offer!
For anyone visiting Sydney, the Manley Ferry is a must!
Luckily, when I had flown into Sydney, I was sitting on the right side of the aircraft, thus I had a perfect view of the city and cliffs surrounding the harbor.
Observing the city from the air I realized that Sydney Harbor was one of the most beautiful harbors in the world.
A few days later a friend and I had the opportunity to take the ferry to Manley located just across the bay from Sydney.
We were not disappointed, after boarding in Sydney, it is about a twenty-minute ride across to Manley. I would recommend a jacket, being July, (their winter) it was quite chilly!

Captain Cook must have had quite a treat as he entered this harbor, although it is probably more beautiful today with the addition of all the wonderful architecture surrounding Sydney.
I’m sure some would disagree, but sailing past the Opera House and Sydney Bridge, one can only marvel at how much man can improve the environment by the careful addition of structures of beauty and function.
It being about 9:30 AM, the ferry was uncrowded,(there being only one passenger beside ourselves), most of the daily commuters had already arrived at their place of work or amusement for the day.
It was too chilly for the beach, so after a short sightseeing expedition,(the temperature being in the 50s, wasn’t that great for sightseeing either) the ferry was boarded for the trip back to Sydney.
When you go, don’t forget to take plenty of photos and video, this is one of the best photo opps anywhere!
