Antigua: Island of Contrasts

Antigua, located in the Leeward Islands of the West Indies is an island of many different contrasts. Here you will find extreme wealth as well as extreme poverty.

Nelson's Dock Yard appropriately named after Horaito Nelson, has become a premier sailing and boating destination. Not only famous for boating, Nelson's Dockyard provides much opportunity to shop and dine and as is the case with most Caribbean Islands, there is plenty of quality rum to go around.

Today English Harbour and the neighboring village of Falmouth are internationally famous as a yachting and sailing destination and provisioning center. During Antigua Sailing Week, at the end of April and beginning of May, the annual world-class regatta brings many sailing vessels and sailors to the island to play sports.

Venturing into the countryside , one can find a variety of lifestyles and scenery to whet your appetite for variety. Many interesting people are more than willing to  offer a photo op for a small token of appreciation.

Keep your camera and credit card handy, both will be used often!
