                                 Termite Mounds are an Interesting Fact about Australia




Scattered throughout the outback of Australia are these termite mounds, no matter where one would look on a map of Australia, a location would be found where termite mounds of various sizes could be found.Sometimes growing to a height of 15 feet, they seem to be larger in the north of Australia where summer monsoons are more prevalent.
 Built by termites, they are amazing architectural feats complete with arches, tunnels, chimneys, insulation and nursery chambers. The mounds are aligned north to south to minimize the exposure to the sun.
