Masonic Lodge Cockburn Town Grand Turk

This tiny little island was full of surprises, after leaving our cruise ship the Carnival  Triumph, we hailed a cab into town. Not knowing what to expect , it was quite a surprise to find that the Capitol of Grand Turk was really quite small, there couldn't over 500 people living here!
The down town area of Cockburn Town was one street maybe four blocks long! Situated right in the heart of the metropolitan area was the Masonic Lodge!

Boldly displayed on the front of the building was the square and compass, surrounding the letter G, just as every other lodge in the world is identified.

Turk Island Forth Lodge, which still meets in the original building, was chartered and first met in 1855. The first Worshipful Master , Frederic Forth, was also the first president of Turk and Caicos Islands. Legend has it that he once lived in the same building.
