Alice Springs-Man-eating Grub Worm

Man-eating Grub Worm!
Journeying thru the outback, a mate encounters all sorts of circumstances and adventures, there is never a dull moment!
While staying in Alice Springs we had the opportunity to visit an aboriginal camp and observe some of their customs and living conditions. Most were living in primitive conditions with no protection from the weather.
Today, as in the past, most still live off the land, eating whatever is available. They hunt with boomerangs, the boomerangs are designed to come back so that if the hunter misses the target, the weapon comes back to him, negating the need to go running after it.
They have learned to eat very little, in some cases to go long periods without eating or drinking at all, included in their diet are maggots and grub worms.

The maggots are scooped out of a dead tree and eaten live, as for the grub worms, they are about the size of an index finger, they are either roasted over a fire pit, or as seen, above eaten alive.
I couldn't muster up the courage to eat maggots or live grubs, however I did try a roasted grub worm, and I have to admit, it wasn't too bad! (tasted like chicken!)
