Moving to Sarasota Florida

Bell Rock Sedona Arizona
We had been living in Sedona Arizona for six years and although it is one of the most beautiful areas on the planet , after living there for a while, there really isn't much to do but play golf and go to movies, I like doing both, but not 5 days a week!
After visiting various places in the west, such as Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Diego, we decided to head back east and make our home in Florida.
Wanting to live on the west coast of Florida and going on the advice of people we had talked to we decided to move to Sarasota Florida even though we had never been there.
Florida is pretty much the same, scenery wise, it's just a matter of finding the area that appeals to oneself, so we decided that if we didn't like Sarasota, it would be easy to move somewhere else if the notion struck us. It would be a lot easier than burning up all that jet fuel flying back and forth from Arizona.
Not knowing anything about Sarasota, we began making plans by doing research on the internet, the first goal was to find a place to live, as my Ford Explorer would not make a good motel room!
We wanted to rent for a while, as that would give us time to find a house or condo, as luck would have it,we found an apartment in a complex that was just opening. With that mission accomplished , we began in earnest to make plans for the cross country trip ahead of us.
As I had no one to drive it , the next challenge would be to transport my Ford Explorer to Florida, we decided the best way would be to drive it out ahead of time and come back to Arizona in time for the big move. I would also be able to stop and see my family in Indiana by taking a slight detour.
I began the trip by leaving Sedona at 4AM, hoping to make Indiana in two days. Once I determined how to satisfy the needs of my stomach, gas tank and bladder at the same time ,the trip went pretty well!
The trip through Arizona, Mew Mexico ,and Texas went rather smoothly, it was rather enjoyable watch the scenery pass and noticing the changes as I headed east.
The sun was fading in the west as I approached Oklahoma City, about half of my journey was complete, so this would be a good place to bed down for the night.
Next morning at sunup I was headed for Indiana! This was going to be a piece of cake!!
Entering the freeway , I began to notice the vehicle was warmer than it should be, Oh, NO, the A/C had quite working, this was the middle of July, the heat index was going to 120, this wasn't going to be fun!
Stocking up on gas and water in Joplin Mo., I headed for Indiana, trying to balance lowering the windows with keeping the wind noise as low as possible, I arrived in Effingham Illinois mid afternoon.
I would need to stock up on gas, food and water befoer going any further. After 4 large glsasses of ice tea, a hearthy meal and a full tank it was on to Indiana!
Because of the heavy consumption of ice tea, I barely made Terra Haute befor having to stop again.
Driving towards Indianapolis, I noticed how much corn there was in Indiana, I had often heard the expression from visitors, but it never really struck home until now!
I told my dad that I probably wouldn't be in until the following morning, so I think he was pleasently surprised when I rolled in about dark, I thnk he knew I would probably aake it on Sunday.
After a short visit, it would be on to Florida to see what kind of future we had in store for us, it sure is hot here, I hope Florida isn't worse, been along time since I have experienced humidity!
