Ixtapa is actually not a town but a development administered by Fontur a federal agency charged with land sales and development. Fontur is charged with administration of Ixtapa's businesses and services.
Being located only 4 miles from Zihuatanejo, 110 nautical miles north of Acapulco and 180 miles south of Manzanillo , Ixtapa is strictly a tourist center with several shopping centers containing classy shops,boutiques, bars, restaurants and discos.
There are many high rise hotels time-shares and condos. The peaceful communities are complimented by golf courses, coconut groves, vacation homes and guest inns.
With its natural beauty, 350 sunny days, white sand beaches and the kindness of it's people, there is no better place to relax and forget the worrys of the world!
