Norwegian Star

We recently returned from a Mexican Riviera cruise on one of Norwegian cruise Lines ships, the Norwegian Star.
The cruise was throughly enjoyable as the Mexican Riviera is one of our favorite destinations. I had never been on a Norwegian cruise before , so I did not know what to expect.
The ships design was elegant but simple, the only thing I didn't like was the freestyle dining. If you haven't experienced it ,some of the cruise lines are doing it now. They bill it as being able to dine any time and anywhere you like, instead of having a set dinner time as on other ships.
The reality is that if you prefer to dine between 6PM and 8PM, reservations, which are hard to get are needed. Also if one dines during those hours all the shows are missed, as they are during this time.
We finally gave up and started eating after 8:30 when the dining rooms weren't crowded. I have heard some people say that they really enjoyed freestyle dining, but it certainly isn't for us.
