Declining Standards

As a result of trying to be politically correct and trying not to offend anyone, we as a nation have been lowering our standards for years.

We no longer "dress up" for anything, blue jeans are acceptable anywhere from church to the opera.

Deeds and actions that would have been grounds for reprimand or even jail 30 years ago are now acceptable behavior.

Instead of requiring people visiting our nation to conform to our standards, laws, and beliefs, we have patronized them and adapted to their way of life.

Why do we have to press 1 for English?

What is wrong with coming here legally? I'm all for immigration, but what kind of message are we sending when the first act an immigrant does is come in illegally and break the law, how can we expect them to obey any other law?

Hospital emergency rooms are collapsing under the strain of illegal immigrants using them as a doctors office, schools are being overburdened from the large influx of children, our taxes are rising to help pay for all of this. This is a situation that we will all suffer from.

Why are signs in Spanish everywhere, I understand that we should try to help new comers adapt to their new country, however so many of them believe that it is our obligation to conform to their ways.

They come here and want to have the same life they had wherever they came from,if their life was so good there, why are they coming here?

It looks to me that if I was coming to a new land to start over and the living conditions where I came from were not that good, I would want to do as the natives do so I could have what they have.

This nation was founded with immigrants, however , let's do it the right way!

Wow, I am in shock! I can't believe that there are still people who think that way and find it so easy to speak in such way about others. Honestly I would elaborate more but unfortunately I would feel that my words would be wasted in the sea of prejudice that is your mind.

I'm not prejudiced, however, our behavioral standards have declined so much that it is affecting the well being of our country and world. It is a common problem that transcends all ethnic, racial ,and  religious boundaries. I guess if the shoe fits , wear it.

We welcome hard working honest law abiding immigrants, we are all immigrants from some where. Most of us just feel that there should be some control of who comes into our country and it should be done legally.
Try to sneak into Mexico and see what happens to you.
Good luck to you in the future.

America has no official language. Therefore we are required to have all documents available in any language. If we did make English our official language, there would be considerably less signs in Spanish. Of course we would be alienating millions of people in the land of "opportunity".

This is America, we speak  English here, we would be alienating people only if they wanted to be alienated. When I go to Egypt, I don't see many signs in English and I don't fell alienated. People come here to supposedly start a new life, if you are starting a new life why would you cling to the old ways you don't like and don't work? Coming to America at one time was a privlige, now too many people think of it as a right.
